Brennan hoping for first Championship win as manager

Westmeath and Kilkenny go head to head in the Leinster BGE u21 hurling quarter-final tonight in TEG Cusack Park.

Westmeath will be hoping for a better year than 2015 where they were defeated by fellow midlanders’ Offaly in the quarter-final stages.

Under new management of Kilkenny hurling legend Eddie Brennan, Kilkenny are focused on going that one step further following their disappointing performance in last year’s final against Wexford.

Kilkenny u21 captain will not feature in tonight’s game as the The St Lachtains endured a farming accident when his father hit a gate that James was on sending him airborne to land on his kneecap.

Kilkenny: Darren Brennan, Evan Cody, Conor Delaney, Huw Lalor, Pat Lyng, Jason Cleere
paddy Deegan, Conor Browne, Eoin Kenny, Liam Blanchfield, Sean Morrissey, Niall Mullins, Billy Ryan, Alan Murphy, John Walsh.

Westmeath: TBC

Other quarter-finals taking place tonight:

St Conleth’s Park Newbridge (7:30pm) – Kildare v Offaly
Netwatch Cullen Park, Carlow (7.30) – Carlow v Laois
