Meath native and IT Carlow hurler Jack Fagan has moved south for his 2016 club campaign.
The 2015 IT Carlow hurler of the year and guaranteedannmarie.com hurler of the game against WIT, has succeeded in transferring from Rathmolyon (Meath) to De La Salle in Waterford. The extremely skillful hurler has been rattling the net for IT Carlow since 2013 when the talented forward won a Freshers All-Ireland league with the Black and Red IT.
Speaking to the Meath Chronicle, Rathmolyon secretary Niamh Regan explained the move;
“Jack attended our annual meeting and explained his dilemma to the members of the club, it was a very honest approach and there was a lot of emotion on the night as he is one of the best players in the county,”
“While we are disappointed that we will be losing Jack, there was unanimous agreement at the meeting that we had to make the correct decision and we signed the transfer form.”
Fagan who was a part of Meath’s u21 panel who were defeated by Wicklow in the All-Ireland U21 B final, will have a chance to make his mark in the in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship if selected for Waterford as the Deisie go from strength to strength.
If the Meath native shows his true talent to Derek McGrath and his backroom team, Fagan will gain the chance to line out beside fellow IT Carlow players Colin Dunford and Michael Harney.
