2016 Leinster football championship draw

The All-Ireland championship may only be finished little over a month but we as supporters and the GAA set our sights on the 2016 championship last night.

Aired on RTE, the 2016 provincial championship and national championships took center stage for both hurling and football.

The draw is as follows

In a repeat of the Division 4 final of 2015 Offaly open their championship playing Longford with a potential place against 2015 Leinster finalists Westmeath. Longford and Offaly have met on numerous occasions with Longford having the last win in the battle of the pair. Tom Cribben’s men would fancy their chances of another Leinster final taking on either Kildare or Wexford, with the maroon and white side defeating Wexford with ease last summer in Cusack Park. Which ever team makes the Leinster final spot face the difficult task of playing 2015 All-Ireland Champions Dublin.

The winners of Louth and Carlow will be hopeful against Meath given their poor 2015 campaign. Laois or neighbours Wicklow face a daunting challenge of All-Ireland Champions Dublin in their semi-final.
