Six month bans for social media abuse directed at Referee

Unfortunately it has become a very common part of GAA for referee’s to receive verbal abuse and with the growth of social media, the abuse towards referee’s continues both on and off the pitch. 

This week three Wicklow footballers were suspended after verbally abusing a referee during a club junior football championship game resulted in a proposed two bans of six-months and one of three-months from the The Wicklow CCC. 

Referee Darragh Byrne was the man in charge for the club clash between Coolboy and Kilbride, in which the the abuse occurred on the field and then onto social media sites.
