Eight-week suspension to Tyrone footballer Tiernan McCann

The GAA’s CCCC (Central Competition Control Committee) is given an eight-week suspension to Tyrone footballer Tiernan McCann dive in last Sunday’s All-Ireland Senior quarter-final vs Monaghan. His faked injury resulted in Monaghan player Darren Hughes was handed his marching orders after it appeared Hughes only ruffled the hair of the forward.

McCann has a limited amount of time to appeal the decision although the eight-week ban means that McCann will miss the All-Ireland semi-final vs Kerry. The ban is enforced under the rule concerning misconduct that has been discredited the Association meaning an eight-week ban is the minimum length of time for an offence under this rule.
