Westmeath minor hurling manager Johnny Greville today tweeted that his squad was forced to pull out of the All-Ireland Championship due to the lack of support from the Westmeath county board.
Raharney native Greville is known for his managerial skills bringing Raharney to their first senior title since 2008 and also ran Offaly champions to a very tight game in Cusack Park in the Leinster club championship. Greville has been praised for his work with the Westmeath minors beating Wicklow and Wexford in their Leinster championship campaign.
Greville also tweeted how noone in the county board explained the situation to him that he heard from a ‘third party’.
Another reply by Greville shows his love and compassion for Westmeath hurling.
The u18’s are being punished for either keeping their county colours or swapping with their opposition Dublin after losing the Minor Leinster semi-final.
The Westmeath county board PRO has responded with “no comment” to the injustice to the young players.
