This afternoon Seamas Plunkett has agreed to return as Laois’ hurling manager, one week after resigning from the position. After earlier posting how Laois hurling seemed to be spiraling downwards both manager and players have returned to the side ahead of their game vs Offaly this weekend.
Laois county board issued the statement that following a series of negotiations Cheddar re-takes the position as manager ahead of Sunday’s Leinster Senior Hurling Quarter-Final with Offaly in Portlaoise while Matthew Whelan and Jim Fitzpatrick have been brought back onto the panel after being dropped last Thursday. Whelan and Fitzpatrick had sparked Plunkett’s departure by playing in a challenge game for their club Borris-In-Ossory/Kilcotton last week against orders but Laois County Board have stated
“Laois GAA wish to announce that following successful discussions, the recent issues concerning Laois Senior Hurling have been resolved, for present. “The team and management are now finalising preparations for Leinster SHC game on Sunday next. “The issues in dispute will be addressed at a later date.”
Laois GAA supporters’ social media campaign for Cheddar to return had over 3-thousand people liking the Bring Back Seamus Plunkett page on facebook.
