The end of the red card?

Weeks after the ‘one on one’ penalty proposal from the GAA’s Hurling 2020 committee, today they revealed another questionable proposal for hurling.

By introducing this rule, hurling will be following in the footsteps of the Gaelic football ‘black’ card. The committee chaired by Tipperary man Liam Sheedy wants to see an end to red card offences by two yellows. In the case a player should receive two yellow cards a substitute will come into play while the player with the two yellows will be sent to the sideline. The big change being a substitute can come into place instead of 15 players vs 14 players.

This is one of the numerous rules to be announced this morning at Hurling 2020 review committee launch, other rules included a 26 man panel for games.
